HAPPY NEW YEAR!

THOMAS' TRAVELS - JANUARY 2010

STRASBOURG

November 28, 2009: For the second time in six months, several of us organized an "oriental night" at the International Pentecostal Church in Strasbourg. About three hundred people came. The main purpose of the meeting was to reach out to the Muslim community. An evangelist from Cairo was with us again. When he was with us in June, he was suffering from hepatitis C; many people prayed for his healing and the Lord answered their prayers. His healing was confirmed by doctors in Egypt and France.

Among the new contacts made was a family of nine from Iraq. They came as refugees to France a year ago. The father, Raad, had been a pastor in Bagdad and had faced much persecution for his faith. He told me that many believers had left Iraq because of the opposition. A couple of weeks after we met this family, the father was taken to hospital on account of an aneurism. But God used even this illness. I went with Larby to the hospital to visit him, and while we were there, Raad's wife and their daughter arrived. They asked us for fourteen Bibles and DVD's to give to their Iraqi friends in Strasbourg who don't yet know the Lord. That day, the trunk of Larby's car was filled with Bibles, DVD's and other materials, so he was able to supply them immediately.

Since the event of last June, we have continued to meet weekly with former Muslims for discipleship meetings. It's a time of sharing, worship, and praying for one another. We've also had to help some of the men in finding lodging and jobs. One young man, said to me, "Before I came to Christ, I had big problems. Now I have small problems." He was referring to his administrative difficulties.

Please continue to pray for us, as we press forward in this work. Even in this time of economic hardship, we can still "do the work of an evangelist."

UPCOMING MINISTRY:

Campaign preparation for Poland at the end of January: This is in coordination with Franck Alexandre and his Gospel Vision Podium Trailer team who are scheduled to spend three weeks in Poland during July and August.

February 18-21: BORDEAUX. The host church is going through some struggles and is in need of revival. I will be holding some edification meetings for believers.

March and April: CHALONS-sur-CHAMPAGNE and STRASBOURG. I will be teaching some friendship evangelism courses and holding a campaign in local churches in each of these two cities.

May 17-30: CONGO-KINSHASA. A city-wide festival with the Baptist churches in Kinshasa, followed by two four-day campaigns in Matadi and Boma.

In all of these endeavors, you are a vital part of this ministry. I am counting on your prayers and support. Thank you for caring and for sharing.

Bill Thomas
